If you do not already have one, create your Lifesaving Online Account to do this:
1.     Go to the following website address:
2.     Select Create Account at the top of the page
3.     To Question 1, select Yes if you are already a members of a club in Australia
4.     Complete all other questions as instructed/required
5.     Successful
6.     Unsuccessful ?

If it does NOT allow you to set up your account, contact the Club Amin Office - email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  to check that all of your current details i.e. name, date of birth, email address and mobile number, are correct within Surfguard. Once this is checked we will advise you and you should be able to create your account starting at Step 1 above.

7.     Once account has been set up, login and go to My Membership.
8.     Select Renew Your Membership
9.     Complete the form and Submit.
10.   Click the link which will take you to the On Line Payment page and complete the form. Click the View Price List, to see the amount required to pay and follow the instructions.

NB: If paying for a family, renew all members of your family 1st but only pay once putting all family names in the Complete name/Meaningful payment details section

***Please remember when renewing your membership click Renew Your Membership, then click Renew on the next screen that appears, this will bring up your personal details and form for you to tick and submit, please confirm your personal details are correct and make any changes that are required and tick the necessary declarations and click Submit.

If you are renewing for a family please register each person in your family and then login in and renew each family member.

11.    The request will be sent to the club and once payment has been confirmed, a confirmation email will be sent to you from the club.

If you are over 18 or turning 18 in the next 6 months, you will require a Blue Card.

To apply or renew a Blue Card please complete the Blue Card Application form New or Renewal. For Police Officers & Teachers who don't hold a Blue Card, please complete the Blue Card Application - Exemption.

if you hold a Blue Card with another organisation please complete the Authorisation to confirm valid Blue Card.

Once you have completed and signed the form, please bring the form to Clubs Administration Office to be signed off by an authorised Club Officer.

Please do not send the form directly yourself as we will need to verify your personal details and enter them into SurfGuard before the form is sent to SLSQ.

6.     Submit. It will then ask you to log in using the conformation code sent to you via your chosen method, either email or SMS. Log in

8.     Read and complete Application and Declaration. If the applicant is under 18, the form must be completed and verified by the parent or guardian(putting their first name in 1st box and surname in 2nd box)
9.     Submit.

Lifesaving Membership Categories

It is a great experience to be a Member of our Club. The Club boasts a vast array of membership categories which caters for all sections of the community.
We outline the categories of membership offered by our Club:

Probationary Member shall be the designation of a new Member or active Member who joins or rejoins following a break in membership. The probationary period is three (3) months. During this time the Member may gain an award and/or be granted a formal category of membership by the appropriate committee.

Junior Activity Member (Nipper) shall be a minimum age of 5 years up to a maximum age of 13 years on a seasonal basis (age for a Season is determined as at midnight on the 30 September at the commencement of that Season), and such person shall be required to gain the relevant Junior Activity Certificate for that person's age group.

Cadet Members - shall be subject to the age qualification as defined in the SLSA's Manuals and has obtained the Surf Rescue Certificate in that Season or passed an annual proficiency test. Shall immediately train for their Bronze Medallion upon attaining the specified age.

Active Members shall be Bronze Medallion holders and shall fulfil the full patrol and Club obligations, as provided by SLSA and the Club Constitution and By-Laws, and shall qualify in an annual proficiency test each Season, unless the Member has obtained his Bronze Medallion in that Season.

Reserve Active Membership - may be granted by a Club to Active Members who have satisfactorily completed (from the gaining of the Bronze Medallion) at least eight (8) years of patrol and Club obligations as provided by SLSA and Club Constitution and By-Laws or a total of ten (10) years of active service (from the gaining of the Bronze Medallion) with the Club or affiliated clubs provided at least four (4) years active service has been with the Club. Reserve Active Membership shall not be automatic, but shall be granted by resolution of the appropriate Club body;
ii) Members shall perform a minimum of patrols in each club where they hold Reserve Active membership, as required by SLSA, and further patrol duties at the discretion of the Club management;
iii) Members shall complete the Annual Proficiency Test.

Long Service Membership -
i) may be granted by a Club to Members who have completed ten (10) years active service or to Members who have completed eight (8) years active service plus four (4) years reserve active service;
ii) Members shall be exempted from all patrol obligations and may be granted other special privileges of membership as provided in the Club Constitutions and By-Laws. However in times of need these Members if proficient may be called upon, by the Club to perform patrols and/or other duties commensurate with their qualifications;
iii) should such Members join another affiliated club the receiving club shall determine if such Member’s Long Service shall be recognised by that club.

Award Membership -
i) may be granted by a Club to persons who are proficient holders of an SLSA Award of one or more of the following qualifications - Surf Rescue Certificate (over 15 years of age), Radio Award(s), Resuscitation Certificate, Advanced Resuscitation Certificate or First Aid Award(s) (or equivalent);
ii) Members may be called upon to perform patrols and/or other Club obligations commensurate with their qualifications, and provided they so do, shall then be eligible for voting rights as approved and minuted by the Club.
Associate Membership -
i) may be granted by a Club to a person who may or may not be the holder of an SLSA award;
ii) does not entitle such Member to voting rights unless elected to office or a position which is provided with voting rights by the Club Constitution or By-Laws;
iii) shall have a joining and/or annual membership fee substantially greater than fees for other categories of Club membership.

Honorary Membership –
i) may be granted annually by a club to persons who may or may not hold an SLSA award, and is
not entitled to voting rights.
ii) Honorary Members may be elected for a period of greater than twelve (12) months, subject to being nominated and seconded to an Annual General Meeting and endorsed by a two-thirds
majority of the Members with voting entitlement.
Life Membership may be granted to Members who have rendered distinguished or special service as provided for in the Club By-Laws.

Past Active Membership -
i) may be granted by a Club to persons who hold an SLSA Bronze Medallion, and been an active patrol Member for a minimum of 3 years.
ii) may have voting rights at the discretion of the Club.

Fellow Membership may be granted by the Club to an individual or corporation who has for more than one year rendered consistent and conspicuous support to the Club which is clearly transparent and visible to the Club.
